Iowa State Patrol Issues Blizzard Tips, Warnings

Sheldon, Iowa — With the winter weather we are supposed to receive, many area schools, businesses, and institutions are closed, and no travel is advised. The Iowa State Patrol has issued some warnings and advice for dealing with the storm.

Here’s Iowa State Patrol Trooper and Safety Officer Vince Kurtz.

The National Weather Service says that for the region that includes northwest and western Iowa, northeast Nebraska, southeast South Dakota and southwest Minnesota, nine to fourteen inches of snow could fall. The Blizzard Warning is now in effect from now until midnight tonight (Monday, January 22). They advise that winds gusting as high as 45 mph will cause whiteout conditions in blowing snow. Significant drifting of the snow is also likely.
