Iowa Wages Up, Farm Income Down

money cash bills dollarsNorthwest Iowa — The income tax returns we’re filing so far this year provide some insight into the health of the economy.

Iowa Legislative Services Agency analyst Jeff Robinson says that, while wages are growing, farm income is down.

Robinson says he has reviewed overall tax payments to the state over the past nine months.

Eighty-eight percent of that growth is in income tax payments to the state. Sales tax payments to the state are up, but not quite as much as experts had predicted.
