Ireton Fire Department Called To Ditch Fire

Ireton, Iowa — The Ireton Fire Department was called out to a fire on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 near Ireton.

According to Ireton Fire Chief Richard Steckelberg, about 4:05 p.m., the Ireton Fire Department was called to the report of a field fire at Eagle Avenue and Highway 10, about a mile north of Ireton.

The chief says the fire department saw lots of smoke as they approached the scene. He says they used water to extinguish the fire.

Steckelberg says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Chief Steckelberg reports that there was about a quarter mile of ditch grass burned as a result of the fire.

He says they used 1,500 gallons of water to fight the fire, and crews were on scene for about a half hour.
