Ireton Man Arrested On Four Charges Including Drug Possession And OWI

Law Enforcement Lightbar redNear Hinton, Iowa — An Ireton man has been arrested on four charges after a traffic stop in Plymouth County.

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Tuesday (9/24/13), about 9:10 PM, one of their deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 2600 block of K22, or the Perry Creek Road, about 10 miles north of Sioux City.

As a result of the stop, the driver, 32-year-old Adam Smith of Ireton, was found to be under the influence of marijuana and also driving while his license was suspended. Smith was arrested, and a search of the vehicle turned up marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

He was charged with Second Offense OWI, an Aggravated misdemeanor; Possession of Marijuana and Driving while suspended, both Serious misdemeanors; Possession of Drug paraphernalia, a Simple misdemeanor, and speeding.

Smith was taken to the Plymouth County Jail and held to see a judge.
