Ireton Man Charged With Seven Felony Counts In Connection With Doon Burglaries

Lyon County Sheriff Car Door 60-8Rock Rapids, Iowa — An Ireton man now faces several charges in connection with several burglaries in Doon.

On August 16th and 19th, 2013 the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office investigated seven burglaries that happened in the town of Doon at Hiller Lumber, Corner Cafe, two at Doon Steakhouse, DJ’s Service Station, Farmer’s Elevator and Sparkle Car Wash Equipment.

As a result of these investigations 32-year-old Adam Edward Smith of Ireton has been charged with seven counts of Third Degree Burglary (Class D Felonies), one count of Second Degree Theft (Class D Felony), Three counts of Fourth Degree Criminal Mischief (Serious Misdemeanors) four counts of Fifth Degree Criminal Mischief and two counts of Fifth Degree Theft (both Simple Misdemeanors).

If convicted, Smith could face up to five years in prison and a fine of between $750 and $7500 on each of the felony counts, and additional confinement and fines on the misdemeanor charges.
Smith is currently incarcerated in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City on other charges not related to these cases.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office in these investigations.
