Ireton Man Injured In Accident Near Million Dollar Corner On Thursday

An Ireton man was injured in an accident on Thursday afternoon (2/23) just south of the Million Dollar corner.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 1 PM, 61-year-old Larry Vonk of Maurice was driving a 1984 Ford Econoline van northbound on Highway 75, about a half mile south of Highway 10. Twenty-one-year-old Thomas Reinking of Ireton was driving a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero southbound on Highway 75. Reinking lost control and entered the northbound lane, colliding with Vonk.

Reinking was transported to the Sioux Center Hospital by the Sioux Center Ambulance where he was treated for his injuries. Vonk did not report any injuries.

Reinking’s vehicle sustained about $5,000 in damages. Vonk’s vehicle sustained about $2,000 in damages.

Reinking was cited for failure to maintain control.

The Iowa State Patrol, Maurice Fire and Rescue, Maurice First Responders, and the Sioux Center Ambulance assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
