Sheldon, Iowa — You can score yourself some points with your significant other this week, while helping the hungry at the same time.
This week is the 19th Annual Caring Rose Week, a time when you can buy a dozen roses for your special someone for just $10 and two cans of food.
Amy Burnette of A Country Florist in Sheldon says the annual event is sponsored by a pair of national advocacy groups.
Burnette tells you how you can take part.
She says the canned food collected will be donated locally.
Caring Rose Week runs through Saturday, November 11th, and some other flower shops in the area are also participating, such as Echter’s Greenhouses in Sibley.
