JD Scholten To Hold Hartley Meet & Greet Saturday

Hartley, Iowa — One of the three Democrats vying for the right to face incumbent Republican 4th District U.S. Representative Steve King in next year’s general election will be in Hartley Saturday morning.

JD Scholten will be holding a Meet & Greet Saturday morning at Mae B Coffe House at 50 2nd Avenue Southwest in Hartley, beginning at 9:00 am.

We spoke with Scholten when he visited the KIWA studios back in September, and he talked about why he wants to represent Iowa’s 4th District in Congress.

Scholten is one of three Democrats who have tossed their hats into the ring for the chance to face Steve King in the 2018 general election. Other Democrat candidates are Paul Dahl of Waterloo, and Leann Jacobsen of Spencer.

In March of this year, Sheldon Democrat Kim Weaver, who had lost to King last year, announced that she would again be a candidate for King’s job in the 2018 elections. However, in June, Weaver announced she was dropping out of the race.
