But that is the issue if it is collective bargaining and I do not agree with what they are pushing for why should I support it. I should have the right to decide whether to associate with a union or not . If I decide not to than I am ok with forfeiting the so called benefits of the union. In Many states workers do not have a choice. Either pay unions dues or remain unemployed. Right to work laws are not about destroying unions but to give workers the choice of whether or not to be a member of one.

Unions are required to collective bargain for every person that is affected by the collective bargaining. They cannot opt out of covering someone. That is why they require people to pay dues who are being covered by the collective bargaining. This isn’t forced dues, it’s forced coverage of people who’d rather not be covered at all. If you don’t pay your dues, the union shouldn’t have to bargain for you.
