KSFY Removal From HTC Cable Lineup Hopefully Temporary

Date posted - January 4, 2012

Sioux Falls ABC affiliate KSFY has been missing from the HTC Cable lineup.

Dave Raak, CEO of HTC Communications says that the situation is that KSFY (and other broadcast stations)used to pay the cable companies to carry their channel(s). Then it was an even-over trade. Now KSFY and other broadcast stations want money from the cable companies for the privilege of carrying their station.

Raak says they’re willing to give them some, but not as much as KSFY wants. He doesn’t want to raise rates, so they’re at an impasse right now.

Negotiations continue. Raak says he hopes to get KSFY back on as soon as possible. In the meantime, he says you can watch most of the same programming except for locally-produced shows on KCAU, out of Sioux City.

We’ll have more on the story on our 5 PM report this afternoon.
