Lester Firefighters Save Machine Shed

Lester, Iowa — A machine shed was saved from fire on Saturday, February 13, 2016 near Lester.
According to Lester Fire Chief Morris Metzger, about 2:20 AM, the Lester Fire Department was called to the report of tractor on fire in a machine shed at the home of Mark Metzger at 1227 Dove Avenue. That’s about two and a half miles north of Lester on Dove Avenue.
The chief says the fire department saw the front of tractor was engulfed in flames as they approached the scene. He says they put the tractor fire out before it could spread to anything else.
Chief Metzger reports that there was extensive damage to the tractor, but no injuries were reported.
He says the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
He crews were on scene for a little over two hours.
