Lightning Strike Update

Date posted - May 29, 2012

Sheldon, Iowa — We now have official word on the lightning strike incident at Maintainer Corporation.

We received a press release from Maintainer Corporation on Tuesday, but it does not contain the names of those injured. Company officials confirm that they will not be releasing that information, at least not at this time. The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office and Sheldon Police Department have record of the ambulance call, but no report was filed, as law enforcement did not do an investigation. Ambulance and hospital records are sealed, due to the HIPPA privacy act.

Via the press release, Maintainer Corporation of Iowa confirms that on Friday, May 25, two employees were injured in a lightning strike at the plant location in Sheldon. The incident occurred at approximately 4:10 P.M. in the west employee parking lot. The two employees were walking to their personal vehicles following completion of their shift. Both employees were administered first aid by employee First Responders, before being transported to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

Maintainer Corporation wishes to express sincere appreciation to the employee First Responders, the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team and the team of medical providers at Sanford Sheldon Hospital for the expert and effective care delivered to both employees following this unfortunate incident.
