Maintainer To Undertake Major Expansion Project

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon industry has announced a major expansion to their local truck body manufacturing operation.

Maintainer Corporation says they’re planning to build a 28,800-square foot manufacturing facility at their campus in south Sheldon.

Maintainer Marketing Manager Todd Karolczak says the expansion is necessary to accommodate the growing customer demand for their service trucks.

Karolczak says the new facility will house a couple of additional production lines.

He says while there are custom features to most of Maintainer’s trucks, there are some trucks that are completely customized to be used in specific industries and applications.

Karolczak says the new facility should increase Maintainer’s production capacity by about 35-percent, and will create new jobs to add to their workforce of about 220 people in their Sheldon and Rock Rapids facilities.

He says the company plans to break ground for the expansion in mid-April, and hope to have it online sometime this coming fall.

This will be the third major expansion by Maintainer in the past four years. a 78-hundred square foot building was completed in 2017 in response to increased demand for Maintainer’s line of mechanics trucks, lube trucks and cranes. That expansion came on the heels of a major 20,750-square foot addition that was completed in 2015.

Maintainer has been manufacturing custom-built mechanics service truck bodies, lube truck bodies, rescue vehicles and cranes since 1976.
