Man And Teenage Boy From Orange City Taken To Hospital After Thursday Accident

Orange City, Iowa — A man and a teenage boy from Orange City were taken to the hospital after an accident on Thursday (5/3) morning.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:25 AM, 38-year-old Brian Vande Kieft of Orange City was driving a 2006 Ford F-350 pickup westbound on 430th Street, a mile northeast of Orange City. Seventeen-year-old Caleb Nibbelink of Orange City was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup southbound on Jay Avenue. The two collided in the intersection and entered the ditch where they both struck guy wires to a utility pole.

Vande Kieft’s vehicle rolled and both vehicles entered a creek.

Both Vande Kieft and Nibbelink were transported to the Orange City Hospital by the Orange City Ambulance for treatment of their injuries.

Vande Kieft’s vehicle sustained about $15,000 in damages. Nibbelink’s vehicle sustained about $10,000 in damages. The utility pole and guy wires owned by Midamerican Energy sustained about $1,000 in damages.

Vande Kieft was cited for failing to yield the right of way at an uncontrolled intersection.

The Orange City Ambulance crew assisted the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
