Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Rock Rapids man is behind bars, facing four counts of felony sex abuse.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that they arrested 22-year-old Melvin Geovany Aguilar Lopez on Thursday, May 12th, 2016.
They say the case started as a missing person report of a 14-year-old female in December, 2015. They say it resurfaced when the teen was again reported missing recently. Sheriff Stewart Vander Stoep says the investigation uncovered the events which led to charging Lopez with four counts of Third Degree Sexual Abuse, which is a Class C Felony, and one count of Enticing a Minor, which in this case is a Class D Felony.
The Sheriff’s Office reports that the arrest stems from an extensive investigation, which is still ongoing.
