Orange City, Iowa — An Orange City man has died in an ATV accident that happened on Tuesday.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:14 PM, emergency responders were called to an all-terrain vehicle accident near the intersection of Jackson Avenue and 390th Street, five miles north of Orange City. A passing motorist had seen the ATV in the ditch with a person pinned beneath it.
After their investigation, sheriff’s deputies believe that 65-year-old Kenneth VanGorp of Orange City had been driving a 2009 Yamaha 4 ATV pulling a sprayer trailer westbound in the south ditch of 390th Street, when he apparently lost control of the ATV. The ATV and sprayer rolled in the ditch and pinned VanGorp beneath it.
The Orange City Ambulance took VanGorp to the Orange City Health System Hospital where they say he died of his injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office reports that the Orange City Police Department, Orange City Ambulance crew and the Orange City Fire Department assisted them.
