Man Flown To Sioux City Hospital After Motorcycle Crash

Alton, Iowa — A Hartley man was flown to a Sioux City hospital after a crash near Alton on Thursday, May 14.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 10:15 PM, 44-year-old Clayton Ahsbahs, Jr. of Hartley was driving a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on Highway 60, two miles northeast of Alton, when he lost control of the motorcycle, which left the roadway and rolled.

The Alton Ambulance took Ahsbahs to the Orange City Health System Hospital.  He was later flown to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, according to the report.

The Harley‐Davidson motorcycle sustained approximately $10,000 in damages.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that alcohol is believed to have been a factor. They say the accident remains under investigation with the possibility of pending criminal charges and traffic law violations.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that the Iowa State Patrol, Orange City Police Department, Alton Fire Department, and Alton Ambulance and Orange City Ambulance crews assisted at the scene.
