The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 10:20 AM, 66-year-old Dean Strub of Okoboji was driving a 2004 Chevy SUV westbound on Highway 9, a mile north and a little east of Ocheyedan.

The report says that due to the slushy and slick road conditions, Strub lost control of the vehicle, which crossed the center line, sliding sideways over the eastbound lane, and into the eastbound ditch. The vehicle rolled and came to rest on its passenger side.

The Ocheyedan Ambulance crew took Strub to Lakes Regional Hospital in Spirit Lake.

Strub’s Chevy was totaled with $10,000 in damages.

Strub was charged with failure to maintain control.

The trooper says the Ocheyedan Fire Department assisted at the scene.
