Man Taken To Hospital After Striking Cows

Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley man was taken to the hospital after a crash near Rock Valley on Monday, February 22nd.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 6:20 AM, 46-year-old James Block of Rock Valley was driving a 2007 Pontiac Torrent eastbound on Highway 18, one mile east of Rock Valley, when he struck four Holstein calves on the roadway.

The Rock Valley Ambulance took Block to Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.

The Pontiac sustained about $7,000 in damage. The calves, owned by East Valley Farms of Rock Valley, were lost as a result of the accident and had an estimated value of $6,000.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that the Rock Valley Police Department, Rock Valley Fire Department and Rock Valley Ambulance crew assisted on the scene.
