Sioux Center, Iowa — A Rock Valley man was taken to a hospital and then taken to jail after he allegedly left the scene of an accident.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 11:11 a.m. on Thursday, October 6th, 30-year-old Roberto Chilel‐Sebastian of Rock Valley was driving a 2000 Ford Explorer westbound on 390th Street, three miles west of Sioux Center, when he lost control of the vehicle, which entered the north ditch and rolled.
After the accident, deputies say Chilel‐Sebastian fled to a nearby bean field. He was later located by deputies. The Sioux Center Ambulance took him to the Sioux Center Health Hospital. He was treated there, and then released into the custody of Sioux County deputies, who arrested him on two outstanding arrest warrants and a charge of driving a motor vehicle with a barred driver’s license. He was also cited on charges of failing to maintain control of a motor vehicle, no proof of insurance, and driving a motor vehicle without a required ignition interlock device.
The Sheriff’s Office says the Ford sustained about $5,000 in damages.
