Man Who Made Facebook Threats To Shoot Himself, Others Formally Charged

Date posted - January 18, 2013

Orange City, Iowa — The Hospers man accused of making a threat on Facebook to hurt others and himself after the Sandy Hook shootings has been formally charged.

The Sioux County Attorney’s Office has filed formal charges of First Degree Harassment against 22-year-old Ricky Lee Carver of Hospers.

Court documents give the exact quote from Facebook. Carver typed, “I’m gonna loose (sic) it u gonna hear about me killing a bunch of ppl then myself like my family.”

Carver’s comment didn’t mention schools and wasn’t directed at anyone associated with any school, but because the Sandy Hook school shooting in Connecticut in which 26 people were killed had happened only three days before, officials locked down schools in Hospers and two nearby towns as a precaution.
