Manure Truck Destroyed In Fire

emergency light fire ambulanceIreton, Iowa — A manure truck was destroyed in a fire on Thursday, April 6, 2017 near Ireton.

According to Ireton Fire Chief Richard Steckelberg, about 10:55 AM, the Ireton Fire Department was called to the report of a truck fire on Dove Avenue South of 420th Street.

The chief says the fire department saw the cab of the truck fully engulfed as they approached the scene. He says they used water to fight the fire.

Steckelberg says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire appeared to be electrical in nature but is officially undetermined.

Chief Steckelberg reports that the straight truck was totaled.

He says they used about 1000 gallons of water to fight the fire, and crews were on scene for about a half hour.
