UPDATE: Marching Orabs Perform VERY Well At StarFest In Sioux City

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Marching Orabs had a good day Saturday when they made their appearance at the StarFest Marching Band Festival in Sioux City.

The Sheldon group was one of just two bands in Class 2A at the festival, the other 2A band being from Cherokee. Sheldon High School Band Director Cliff St. Clair tells KIWA that the Marching Orabs managed to take 1st Place in the 2A class.

Following the initial performances from all sixteen bands at the festival, the “Top 10” were selected to compete in the finals Saturday evening. When we talked to St. Clair last week he said it would be very difficult for the Marching Orabs to make it into that elite field of ten bands.

St. Clair says the Marching Orabs proved to be up to the challenge, being selected for the field of finalists.  He says that after all ten of the finalist bands performed, the Marching Orabs received 9th place in the competition.

There’s no rest for the Marching Orabs, however, since they’ll be back in action this Saturday when they host the State Marching Band Festival at Orab Field.

Congratulations to Cliff St. Clair and the Sheldon Marching Orabs on their accomplishments this past Saturday at StarFest in Sioux City.
