MOC-Floyd Valley performed in the Class 3A field, but performed for notes, rather than a rating, to allow them to reach another festival in Sioux Falls Saturday.

Sheldon, Iowa — High school marching bands from sixteen northwest Iowa schools will be in Sheldon Saturday morning to take part in the 2018 Iowa State Marching Band Festival at Orab Field.

Cliff St. Clair, the Director of the Sheldon Marching Orabs, and host of the event, says the first band will take the field at 8:00 Saturday morning.

St. Clair says the Marching Orabs are scheduled to take the field as the last of the Class 2A bands.

Normally the Marching Orabs board a school bus immediately following the State Marching Band Festival, and go to Orange City  to compete in the MOC-Floyd Valley Dutch Field Competition. They won’t be doing that this year, since the Dutch Field Competition doesn’t fall on the same weekend as the State Festival in Sheldon. St. Clair explains.

He says the Dutch Field Competition will be held next Saturday, October 13th, and the Marching Orabs will be taking part.

Again, the State Marching Band Festival begins at 8:00 Saturday morning at Orab Field, with the Marching Orabs taking to the field at 10:45. As always, the festival is open to the public.
