Marcus Man Found Dead At Rural Merrill Farm
Date posted - February 17, 2012
A Marcus man is dead, apparently the victim of an accident or natural causes.
Just before 8 PM on Tuesday, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call concerning a male subject that was unresponsive. The caller was a family member of the male subject and was calling from 26876 220th Street, near Merrill.
Deputies and ambulance personnel were dispatched and upon arrival found a male subject deceased just outside a hog confinement building.
The Sheriff’s Office reports that 47-year-old James Leroy Dixson of Marcus, was pronounced dead at the scene by Plymouth County Medical Examiner, Dr. Shiela Holcomb. Dixson had collapsed inside the hog confinement building and was later moved outside the building. It was reported that Mr. Dixson was working inside the hog confinement doing some electrical repair on one of the exhaust fans.
At this time, the investigation is continuing. The cause of death has not been determined, however, an autopsy is being performed today at the State of Iowa Medical Examiners Office in Ankeny, Iowa. Natural causes and/or accidental circumstances seem to be the preliminary focus. There was no evidence of foul play and the manner and cause is undetermined.
The Merrill Ambulance crew assisted the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office.
