Meineke To Become Full-Time Sheldon Police Officer

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker has announced that reserve Sheldon Police Officer Eric Meineke has accepted the position of full-time police officer.

Meineke has served the City of Sheldon as a reserve police officer since being appointed in January of this year. He was the first reserve officer in Sheldon Police history.

Meineke’s starting salary will be $42,334.22 a year, according to the police union agreement. Once he successfully completes the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, his salary would increase to $47,712.22, with another increase on his first year anniversary of employment.

Meineke’s hiring is on the city council agenda for Tuesday’s meeting, and they are expected to approve his hiring.
