Meteorologist: Northwest Iowa Should Get Rain Changing To Snow This Week, Possibly With Freezing Rain Midweek

Date posted - April 8, 2013

ice storm freezing rainSioux Falls, SD — Northwest Iowa could see some good rain this week, but according to the National Weather Service, it could change to freezing rain and then snow.

We talked to meteorologist Kyle Weisser from the Sioux Falls Forecast Office, who tells they expect it’s all going to start with a nice rain.

He says tomorrow will be kind of drizzly, but then it’s going to start up again.

Wednesday’s forecast is for mixed precip. And wind.

Weisser says the main icing threat looks to be west of a Marshall to Yankton line. He says it looks like if we get any freezing rain, it would just be for a short period as the rain transitions into snow. Winter Storm Watches and Warnings are posted for areas to our west.
