MidAmerican Franchise & H.C. Lane Building Back On Council Agenda For Wednesday

Sheldon, Iowa — The proposed MidAmerican gas and electric franchises will be back on the agenda when the Sheldon City Council meets this Wednesday May 1st

The council is scheduled to review the draft ordinances and possibly set a date for a public hearing and first readings of both the gas and electric agreements.  Before that can happen some minor changes will need to be made in the wording of the ordinances and a revenue purpose statement.  The council will also have to set the percentages of a franchise fee for both residential and non-residential gas and electric accounts.

The council will also get an update on the H.C. Lane building.  At the last report the City is still waiting for assurances from the property manager’s engineer that the rear wall of the building is safe before they re-open the alley behind the building.  At their last meeting the council was advised that the dangerous building enforcement process had begun.  This process allows the owner ninety days to complete the necessary repairs.

In other business, a public hearing will be held on the contract with Maintainer for Development and a minimum assessment agreement.  They will also act on the resignation of Police Officer Scott DeGoei, who will be retiring June 30th, after 32-years on the police force.

Wednesday’s meeting begins at 4:30 in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
