Sioux Rapids, Iowa — A Milford man has died as the result of a snowmobile crash.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources reports that their conservation officers and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the snowmobile crash on the Little Sioux River near 4930 245th Avenue, about three and a half miles northeast of Sioux Rapids on January 4 around 8:00 p.m.
The DNR says the driver, 39-year-old Justin Robert Stahly of Milford, was traveling northbound on the river ice when he struck a tree. They say Stahly was pronounced dead at the scene.
The DNR reports that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was riding with a group of snowmobilers.
The crash remains under investigation by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officers.
