NCC logo and taglineWant to learn a new hobby, improve your day-to-day life or experience a relaxing outing with friends? At Northwest Iowa Community College, we are striving to develop programming that is relevant, up-to-date, informative and FUN.

Freezer Meals: Instructor: Jessica Williams. Do you love to cook but lack the time? Do you hate to cook but still love to eat? Preparing meals in advance make weeknight cooking a breeze! In this class, each attendee will come and make 5 freezer meals to feed their families. Each meal will serve 4 to 6. This monthly menu will include: Freezer Crockpot Stew; Chicken with Honey, Lemon, Carrots & Potatoes; Chicken Fajitas; Cranberry Pork Roast and Beef Teriyaki. All supplies for the meals will be furnished. Please bring your own large bags or basket to the class to take your prepared items home. Wear an apron if desired! This course will be on Monday, January 30 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Sheldon Hy-Vee Dining room. Tuition: $75

Cake Decorating: Instructor: Karla Ven Huizen. Does the art of cake decorating fascinate you? This hands-on class will cover the fundamentals so you will be able to decorate your own cake masterpieces! Information will be shared on the types of frostings and cakes. Students will learn writing techniques, how to make different types of flowers, piping borders, and how to properly frost a cake. Students will need to take to class: Wilton Decorating Tips #4, #12, #18, #104 and #352 and a 10″ Wilton re-usable decorating bag. This course will be on three consecutive Mondays from January 30 to February 13 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on NCC’s campus in Building D, room 409. Tuition: $49

Beekeeping: Instructor: Beth Thole. Why keep bees? Do you want to produce your own honey, enhance your fruit and vegetable production, study the complex inter-workings of bees or just start an interesting new hobby? Topics of instruction in this class will include bee biology and bee health, hive set-up and maintenance, equipment needed, honey harvest, and health benefits of honey. This course will be on two consecutive Tuesdays on January 30 & February 7 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on NCC’s campus in Building C, room 304. Tuition: $25
