NCC Named Best 2-Year College In Iowa

Sheldon, Iowa — Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon has been named the best two-year college in Iowa by a college planning resource.

BestColleges.com recently published its list of the top Colleges in Iowa. A total of nineteen two-year Iowa schools made the list.

Dr. Jan Snyder is NCC’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement and and External Affiars. She says they were happy to find that they were top on the list.


She says there are several factors that seem to have stood out.


Snyder says NCC is proud of the fact that out of the over 11,500 College Alumni since 1966, over 7,500 live in Iowa. They are also proud of their 2014 placement rate, which was 100 percent, and their average first-time 2014 wage, which was $16.49 per hour.

In the four-year category, BestColleges.com gave fifth place to Northwestern College in Orange City and 15th place to Dordt College in Sioux Center.

1. Northwest Iowa Community College, Sheldon
2. Southwestern Community College, Creston
3. North Iowa Area Community College, Mason City
4. Northeast Iowa Community College-Calmar
5. Eastern Iowa Community College District, Davenport
