New Special Olympics Team Seeks Funding

Sheldon, Iowa — A new Special Olympics team has been formed with athletes from our area. They’re just getting started and they are seeking funding.

Cindy Dagel is one of the people involved in the new team, and she tells us about the new group and how they got started.

Dagel says while Sheldon athletes are welcome, Village Northwest Unlimited has their own Special Olympics team. She tells us about the ways they are trying to raise funds, and what those funds would allow them to do.

She says for right now, the Tidal Wave will be focusing on Track and Field events and Bowling. She says they’d like to add other sports eventually, especially basketball and cheerleading.

She says they have coaches and other volunteers lined up, and that she’s been very pleased that so many people have been willing to help.

The Pizza Ranch nights are — the Sibley Pizza Ranch on March 8th from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; the Sheldon Pizza Ranch on March 19th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the Sanborn Pizza Ranch on March 27th from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. She says they will be on hand during those times bussing tables and to answer any questions.
