Newly Elected County Officials Sworn In Tuesday

Primghar, Iowa — The first meeting of 2017 of the O’Brien County Board of Supervisors was held Tuesday morning at the courthouse in Primghar, and the county officials who were elected, or re-elected in the November elections were sworn in at Tuesday’s meeting.

O’Brien County Auditor Barb Rohwer says 3 of the five Board of Supervisors positions were up for election in November, with the three winners of the November election sworn in Tuesday.  The trio includes one new Supervisor, along with two incumbents.

In addition, she says, there were two other county officeholders who were sworn in for their new terms of office.

Sheriff Allen Schuknecht was appointed in August of last year to fill the unexpired term of Sheriff Michael Anderson, upon Anderson’s retirement.  Schuknecht was unopposed in the November general election.  Rohwer says he officially took office at that time.

The current O’Brien County Board of Supervisors is comprised of District 1 Supervisor Sherri Bootsma, District 2 Supervisor John Steensma, and District 3 Supervisor Nancy McDowell, all of whom were sworn in for new terms Tuesday, along with District 4 Supervisor Tom Farnsworth, and District 5 Supervisor Dan Friedrichsen.
