No Mail Delivery In Iowa Today

Northwest Iowa — If you’re looking for a specific piece of mail to hit your mailbox, today isn’t going to be the day it arrives.

The U.S. Postal Service will not be making in-town or rural mail deliveries today due to the cold weather. We talked to several area post offices this morning and all said the same thing, the window is open, and they can sell you stamps or accept items to go into outgoing mail, but that mail won’t be going out of the post office until tomorrow.

Several area postal officials tell KIWA that the truck from Sioux Falls didn’t arrive this morning with incoming mail, so even if you have a Post Office Box you won’t be receiving any mail today.

In addition, some government offices are open today, and some are closed. All Iowa state government offices are open, the Sheldon City Office is open, but many government offices in other towns are not operational today.

Also, many businesses are closed due to the frigid temperatures, and all schools in the listening area are closed today.

For a complete listing of closures, visit the Closures/Delays page at kiwaradio.com.

And it might be a smart move to call before you go somewhere today, just to make sure your destination is open.
