Ocheyedan Man Gets 10 Years To Life For Felony Sexual Abuse

Jail Door2Sibley, Iowa — An Ocheyedan man has received a 10-year prison sentence and a life sentence for felony sexual abuse.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that 62-year-old Ernest Christensen of Ocheyedan, was found guilty of Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree, a Class “C” Forcible Felony.

Christensen was committed to the custody of the Director of the Iowa Department of Corrections for no more than 10 years. But the Court also imposed a special sentence committing Christensen to the custody of the Director of the Iowa Department of Corrections for the rest of his life, with eligibility for parole. He’s to serve that sentence after the 10-year sentence.

Christensen was ordered to comply with the Sex Offender Registry requirements of Iowa. He was also sentenced to a suspended $1000 fine and 35 percent surcharge. He must pay victim restitution, court costs and attorney fees.

Christensen was delivered to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center at Oakdale by Osceola County Sheriff’s Deputies.
