Officials Still Awaiting Autopsy Results In Death Investigation

Sheldon, Iowa — The investigation is ongoing into the death of a Sheldon man in the wee hours of this past Saturday morning.

Shortly after 2:30 am Saturday, authorities received a call of a man in the middle of the street. Responding officers discovered an unresponsive male, later identified as 32-year old Joshua Andrew Rook of Sheldon, and began resuscitation efforts. Rook was rushed to the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center by SCAT, where he was pronounced deceased.

O’Brien County Attorney Micah Schreurs tells KIWA that Rook was found roughly 285 feet north of the northeast corner of South 3rd Avenue and Hubbard Street, which is south of the Post Office on South 3rd Avenue.

Schreurs says the investigation is continuing, and, as of Tuesday afternoon, says authorities are still waiting on the results of the autopsy conducted on Rook’s body. The autopsy is conducted to establish the exact cause, and manner, of Rook’s death.

The case is under investigation by the Sheldon Police Department, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and the O’Brien County Attorney’s Office.
