Orange City Man Pleads Guilty to Manufacturing Anabolic Steroids

Sioux City, Iowa — An Orange City man who had been accused of manufacturing anabolic steroids entered a Guilty plea in federal court in Sioux City on Monday (November 20th)

A release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Sioux City says 23-year old James Nhan, of Orange City accepted a plea agreement in which he admitted to manufacturing anabolic steroids, which are Schedule III controlled substances.

The release says that, in his plea agreement, Nhan admitted that, from late 2014 until December 15, 2015, he manufactured anabolic steroids and intended to distribute some of the steroids to various customers. It goes on to say that in December, 2015, law enforcement executed a search warrant on Nhan’s residence and seized numerous vials containing anabolic steroids, as well as laboratory equipment, packing materials, labels, and sheets of papers listing the names and addresses of individuals who had purchased, or intended to purchase anabolic steroids.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office press release, a date for sentencing has not yet been set. The release says Nhan remains free on bond pending sentencing.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says he faces a possible maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment, a $500,000 fine, $100 in special assessments, and at least 2 years of supervised release following any imprisonment.
