Orange City Woman, Merrill Woman Injured In Accident Near Hinton

Ambulance rear blue and whiteHinton, Iowa — An Orange City woman and a Merrill woman were injured in an accident near Hinton on Friday morning.

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:10 AM 44-year-old Kim Kosierowski of Merrill was driving a 2007 Buick Rendezvous southbound on Highway 75, near the intersection with Lone Tree Road, about a mile and a half south of Hinton. Kosierowski was attempting to overtake a 2012 Toyota Highlander driven by 44-year-old Emily McCallister of Orange City.

The Kosierowski vehicle entered the right lane, contacting the McCallister vehicle, because of a probable mechanical failure. Both vehicles entered the west ditch and rolled. The Kosierowski vehicle came to rest on its top, the McCallister vehicle came to rest on its side.

Kosierowski and McCallister were both assisted from their vehicles by Hinton Fire and Rescue. Both women were transported to Unity Point, St. Lukes in Sioux City with non-life threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were a total loss.

The collision was investigated by the Iowa State Patrol with assistance from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department, Hinton Police and Hinton Fire-Rescue and EMS.

The collision remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
