Passenger Killed When Semi Rolls In Osceola County

Osceola County, Iowa — One person is dead as the result of a single vehicle rollover crash in Osceola County early Friday afternoon.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, shortly after noon on Friday, a 2001 International semi tractor-trailer rig, driven by 35-year old Joshua Hamrick of Spencer, was southbound on Walnut Avenue, southeast of Ocheyedan, when the front tire left the roadway and began to slide into the ditch.  Troopers say the trailer slid around the side of the semi’s tractor and began to roll, causing the semi tractor to roll, as well.  According to the accident report, the tractor-trailer rig made one complete roll, coming to rest on the passenger side in the intersection of Walnut Avenue and 120th Street.

Troopers say a minor passenger in the truck was killed in the crash.  The name of the victim has not been released.

Iowa State Patrol Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Iowa DOT, and Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
