Pastor Of Orange City Church Talks About Using Former Joyce’s Building For Satellite Church

Date posted - September 14, 2012

Sheldon, Iowa — The former Joyce’s Food Store on Old 60 in Sheldon is in the early stages of becoming a church.

The former Joyce’s property is now owned by Living Water Church in Orange City, for use as a satellite church.

We had a chance to talk to Living Water’s pastor, Jason Van Wyk. He tells us what has happened up until this point in regard to the building.

But, he says, the owners preferred selling over renting. However, the church wasn’t really in a position to buy the property, he says. As it turned out, they didn’t have to.

He says there’s no set timetable as to when anything begins in the Sheldon location. He says basic repair work and renovations will probably be first on the list.

The mother church is only five years old itself. It started meeting at Northwestern College, then met at City Hall, and now meets in a former car dealership.

The pastor tells us about the focus of Living Water Church.

As far as the Sheldon campus, many details need to be discussed, says Van Wyk, even including if the church will have its own council and its own pastor someday.
