Paullina Man Escapes Injury When Truck Hits Water On Road, Gets Partially Submerged

Date posted - May 30, 2013

O'Brien Sheriff 71-6Paullina, Iowa — It could have been much worse for a rural Paullina man when his truck hit water on the road during the flooding we experienced earlier this week.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that early on Monday morning (5/27), about 4:35 AM, Kevin Bolkema of rural Paullina was driving a 2004 Ford F150 pickup truck in the 5100 block of 460th Street. That’s two miles north of Germantown or five miles west of Paullina. Bolkema hit some water on the road and the pickup went into the south ditch. It became partially submerged up to about the three-foot level in water.

Bolkema was not injured.

The pickup sustained an undetermined amount of damage.
