Date posted - February 23, 2012

A Paullina teen was taken to the hospital after an accident on Monday.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 12:25 PM on Monday (2/20), 17-year-old Joshua Fintel of Paullina was driving a 1989 Buick eastbound on 460th Street, about two miles west of Paullina when he began to lose control and cross the centerline. Forty-five-year-old Cody Granstra of Sheldon was westbound driving a 1993 Volvo semi truck when he noticed Fintel crossing the centerline.

Granstra began to drift toward the right shoulder to avoid a collision. The vehicles collided in the westbound lane. Granstra’s vehicle came to rest in the cornfield on the north side of the road and Fintel’s vehicle came to rest in the roadway facing west.

Fintel was taken by Paullina Ambulance to Baum Harmon Hospital in Primghar.

Damage to Fintel’s vehicle was estimated at $1500 and damage to the semi was estimated at $18000.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
