Pavilion Parking Tabled Until Spring

Sheldon, Iowa – The Crossroads Pavilion Board met in regular session Wednesday, November 8th at 6:00 p.m. in the Sherwood Boardroom at the Crossroads Pavilion Event Center. Present were Brittany Behrendsen, Kevin Cain, Sean Hutchison, Pete Hamill, Lora Vande Brake, Rob Roozeboom, Zach Sawyer, Peter Wagner, and Tricia Meendering.

Old business reviewed included paving  for additional parking. Currently, the facility has 122 parking spaces, with six of those designated as handicapped. Beck Engineering, the firm that provided land work prep for the original construction, was consulted and gave a price of $900 for each section of land that would need to be leveled. The Board determined that the Public Works Director should be involved when the decision to expand parking is made to avoid any unnecessary underground complications. After discussion, it was decided that the topic of additional paving would be tabled until spring.

Also discussed was the calendar of confirmed bookings. Behrendsen gave an update and stated that the events that have taken place have gone well. Weekends are filling up fast in the upcoming year and there are six Christmas parties scheduled already for 2017.

In new business, the Pavilion employee policies were discussed. Hutchison stated that as a city entity, the Pavilion policies have to be at least as strict as the current city policies, but other additions may be added as Behrendsen sees fit.

In other business, the City Budgeting Committee will be providing an outdoor sign for the Crossroads Pavilion in 2018. Sign options will be submitted to the Crossroads Pavilion Board for final approval.

The next regular meeting of the Crossroads Pavilion Board is set for Wednesday, December 13th, and will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Sherwood Boardroom at the Crossroads Pavilion Event Center.
