The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 12:40 PM, 48-year-old Cathy Woodyard of Primghar was westbound on B40 west of Primghar in a 1998 Dodge pickup. Seventy-three-year-old Herman Rahbusch of Sutherland was eastbound on B40 in a 2001 Chevy pickup, pulling a livestock trailer.

The deputy’s report says there was a south wind blowing snow across the road causing patches of slush. Woodyard lost control in the slush and her pickup began to slide sideways and crossed over to the south side of the road. The deputy says Woodyard crossed in front of Rahbusch, who’s pickup then struck the Woodyard pickup. Woodyard’s pickup then went into the south ditch and rolled over onto its drivers side.

Both Woodyard and Rahbusch were transported to Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar by Primghar Ambulance.

Both vehicles were totaled. Woodyard’s pickup received $6000 in damage, and Rahbusch’s pickup received $9000 in damage.

Woodyard was charged with Failure to Maintain Control.
