Property Tax Credit Available For Low-Income Elderly, Disabled

Primghar, Iowa — Low-income elderly, as well as disabled, homeowners are being urged to apply for an Iowa Property Credit Claim to reduce their property tax liability.

O’Brien County Treasurer Phyllis Rohlfson talks about who is eligible for this tax credit.

Rohlfson says there are maximum income guidelines to be able to take advantage of this particular tax credit.

She says it’s very simple to apply for this tax credit.

Rohlfson says the Iowa Property Credit Claim is available to those 65-years of age or older by December 31, 2017, and meet the income restriction, or were disabled and 18-years of age or older By December 31, 2017.

You may also be eligible to claim a reduced tax rate on your Moblie Home Tax, if you were 23-years of age or older on December 31st.

Roehlfson says you can get more information by calling her office at 712-957-3208. The deadline for filing the application for these tax credits is on or before June 1, 2018.
