law enforcement lightbarRemsen, Iowa — Ten people have been arrested in a Plymouth County investigation into the transport and sale of marijuana in the Remsen area.

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office reports that they conducted the investigation with the assistance of the Le Mars Police Department drug task force.

Authorities report that they became aware that some people were bringing marijuana from Aurora, Colorado into northwest Iowa. The marijuana was then packaged and resold in the Remsen and Le Mars area. A vehicle that authorities believed was involved was stopped by the Iowa State Patrol on Saturday, March 2nd on I-29.

They report they arrested 56-year-old Randy Brent of Aurora, Colorado. Charges included possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. Brent was also charged with conspiracy to deliver marijuana which is a Class D felony.

As a result, the joint drug task force executed five separate search warrants. As a result of carrying out the warrants, authorities arrested 59-year-old Randy Holsinger, 22-year-old Jesse Holsinger, 22-year-old Cameron Gengler, and 20-year-old Jessica Weaver all of Remsen. They also arrested 28-year-old Kayla Hutton, 30-year-old Ryan Toel, 50-year-old Danie McEvoy, 35-year-old Timothy Ruhland, and 55-year-old Charles Maddox all of Le Mars.

Those arrested were charged with several different charges, ranging from possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, which are misdemeanors to conspiracy to deliver, and drug tax stamp violations which are Class D felonies. All of those arrested were charged with one or more felony count, except Weaver. They were all taken to the Plymouth County Jail, and either posted bond or were released after seeing a judge.

The Task Force has seized about 2 pounds of marijuana, over $15,000 in cash and 2 vehicles. The investigation continues and authorities report more arrests are expected.

I for one would like to thank the local police department for protecting us all from these dangerous reefer addicts.

When is Iowa going to say enough is enough. Legalize marijuana! We are waisting taxpayers dollars. Fighting a fight that is nothing but wasteful. God gave us a plant to use for pain. Yet pharmaceutical companies keep pushing pills and make a fortune killing people slowly. What these people did was wrong! But they will probably get more jail time then a child molester. One last thought. When your driving down the highway, would you rather drive next to someone drunk or stoned. How many people are dead from weed compared to your legal alcohol. The proof is in the pudding!
