Reynolds Orders Flags To Half Staff To Honor Barbara Bush

Statewide Iowa — Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has ordered all state flags in Iowa to be lowered to half-staff effective immediately until sunset on Saturday, April 21, 2018, in honor and remembrance of former First Lady Barbara Bush, who passed away Tuesday at the age of 92.

Governor Reynolds’ order is issued in conjunction with President Donald Trump’s proclamation to lower all United States flags to half-staff for the same length of time.

Flags will be at half-staff on the Iowa State Capitol Building and on flag displays in the Capitol Complex. Flags will also be half-staff on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state.

Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect for the wife of one former U.S. President, and Mother of a second.
