Rock Rapids Man Arrested On Assault Charge After Altercation Over His Kids’ Safety

Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Rock Rapids man has been arrested on assault charges after an altercation on Friday, June 20th.Lyon County Sheriff Car Door 60-8

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that a little before 11 PM, they were called to an address in the 600 block of First Avenue in Rock Rapids for a reported assault.

Deputies report that 26-year-old David Warren Jr. of Rock Rapids was arrested and charged with serious assault (a serious misdemeanor).

The investigation showed that the victim, Bryan Hamilton, also from Rock Rapids, was allegedly assaulted after attempting to stop Warren, who was intoxicated, from entering his home to get Warren’s children. Hamilton allegedly told Warren that his children could spend the night where they were safe. That’s when deputies say Warren allegedly became upset and assaulted Hamilton.
