Rock Rapids Man Taken To Hospital After Accident In Rock Rapids

lyon co ambulance sideRock Rapids, Iowa — A Rock Rapids man was taken to the hospital after an accident in Rock Rapids on Wednesday, November 20th.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 9:10 AM, 28-year-old Larae VanderBrink of Rock Rapids was driving a 2004 Ford Expedition eastbound on Third Avenue.  Eighty-two-year-old John Anderson, also of Rock Rapids was driving a 2010 Chevy Malibu southbound on South Carroll Street.

VanderBrink had stopped at the intersection on South Carroll Street, but failed to see Anderson and pulled away from the stop sign and struck the side of the Anderson vehicle.

Anderson was taken to Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids.  VanderBrink was not injured.

VanderBrink’s Ford sustained about $2,300 in damages.  The Anderson Chevy sustained about $5,500 in damages.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lyon County Ambulance and the Rock Rapids Fire Department.
