Rock Rapids Man Who Allegedly Committed Assault With Sword Faces Felony Charge

Lyon County Sheriff Car Door 60-8Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Rock Rapids man has been arrested on a felony charge after Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the report of an assault with a sword.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that they were called to the reported assault early on Saturday — about 3 AM.

After the assault, the suspect, 51-year-old Hiram Wilson Meadows of Rock Rapids allegedly entered a residence believed to be his.

The Lyon County Special Response Team (SRT) was called to respond.

At about 5 AM Meadows surrendered to the deputies surrounding his home.

Deputies arrested Meadows and charged him with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor, and one count of going armed with intent, a class D felony. He is being held in the Lyon County Jail.

The Lyon County Deputies were assisted by an officer from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
